DTP’s Shawnna Dropping First Solo, But is No Rookie August 31, 2004
DTP’s 1st lady, Shawnna is readying to release his first solo album on DTP/Def Jam entitled Worth the Weight . The September 28th release promises to bring more depth than the average rhymes of materialistic fantasies and sleeping around.
Shawnna’s first single “Shake Dat Sh*t” produced by Timbaland Featuring Ludacris has been receiving heavy rotation on BET and radio around the country. Worth the Weight also boasts guest appearances from Ludacris, Missy Elliott, Jermaine Dupri, Twista, and others.
Shawnna proves her respect for Hip-Hop’s history with the remake of MC Lyte’s “Kick This for My City”. Making sure to let fans know that her new album isn’t the same as what has been brainwashing the industry Shawnna explains, “I want my music to be an outlet for women who have children; who feel like they cannot reach their goals and reach their dreams.
