Bad Boy Moves May 14, 2005
Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, who left Universal after a two-year run, is taking his Bad Boy Records group to Warner Music Group. Bad Boy Records, which counts Boyz N DA Hood, Mase and Notorious B.I.G. among its roster of artists, will join Warner as part of a 50-50 joint venture.
While terms were not disclosed, the New York Post reports that people close to the deal say Combs would receive at least $30 million under the deal, which is reportedly for five years.
Warner is the latest home for Bad Boy, which has already been at Arista, then Universal. Combs is expected to hire someone to run the new venture on a day-to-day basis, with Combs re-focusing his own attention on the music business in a supervisory capacity.
